Back to Pipe Organs of West - Central PA
|
Year: 1893, op. 1147 Location: St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson PA Remarks: Noticeably small in comparison to the height of the balcony, this instrument actually predates the construction of the church by approx. 20 years. One peculiarity of this instrument is that the upper end of the principal chorus plenum is located in the swell division rather than the traditional great. This stop arrangement really gives the instrument more registration flexibility. One necessity of course is the swell to great coupler. Tracker builders could certainly study and note the mechanics of this coupler which is the lightest that I've ever experienced. An interesting bit of trivia is the well preserved "graffiti" found on the back of the swell box.
